Tender Heart Canine Rescue

Rainbow Bridge

This page is dedicated to all the rescues that have passed away and will dearly be missed. All of these animals were deeply loved and will never be forgotten. Please remember that this page is also dedicated to those of us that have suffered a great loss when we lose our bestfriends. Those of us who deeply miss the wriggling under the covers in the middle of the night so that our babies could sleep in the crook of our legs, and the cold wet noses all over us when we are not ready to wake up, the comfort of a little 4 legged friend that would always be there when something was wrong, and the barking, tearing stuff up and getting in to everything. These all all things we all take for granted until it is to late and we learn that the smallest things in life are the most comforting. So for all of us that have lost our companions, best friends, and some of us a part of our lifes, please remember that our babies are waiting for us when we are ready to go. I personally will be glad to see my "paper shreader" with his cold wet nose that always slept on my chest or around my neck every night.

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
Those who have been maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with each other.

Some of them here by the Bridge are different.
These pets were beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.
They watch wistfully as their friends leave one by one,
to cross the bridge with their special person.
For them there is no one, no special one.
Their time on earth did not give them one.

But one day, as they run and play,
they notice someone standing by the road to the bridge.
This person wistfully watches the reunions of friends,
for during life, this person had no pet.
This person was beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.

Standing there alone, one of the unloved pets approaches,
curious as to why this one is alone.
And as the unloved pet and the unloved person get nearer to each other,
a miracle occurs, for these are the ones who were meant to be together,
the special person and the beloved pet who never had the chance to meet while on Earth.
Finally, now, at the edge of the Rainbow Bridge, their souls meet,
the pain and the sorrow disappears, and two friends are together.

They cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

KOHL

AKA PIG

Kohl was born August 7, 1997 and was a pampered and adored family pet to us all. Kohl AKA Pig was full of energy and love and was willing to share that with anyone. Of course he had his own little ideas sometimes, but that was what made Kohl so special to us all. Kohl was amazing with his "little 2 legged girl, Alexis" and loved to be with her but most of all he was a Mommas baby to the end. Him and his mom were always together. Kohl became sick and was taken to the vet to be treated for pancreatitis, which had happened before so we thought it was routine. Sadly Kohl passed away on December 31, 2006. This guy will be deeply missed and thought of constantly. There will never be another guy like Kohl, but his memory will live on forever in our hearts.
WE LOVE YOU PIG!!!!!

Conner

We will always remember you!!!

Conner was a wonderful male Boxer. He was found by my step father when he was building a fence. He was extremely emaciated, and covered in a rash where he had been in the mud and rain for so long. Conner was kept in a wonderful loving foster home, and was very much adored by his mom. Sadly Conner was going into liver failure at 1 year old, his liver was so damaged already, a biopsy could not be done. He was kept on meds and was watched closely, but sadly he lost his battle.
Conner was a great dog, he loved everyone and everything. His favorite thing was jumping on the trampoline with the kids. We will miss you Conner, and we will never forget you!!!!

Max was a very good baby. We worked hard to find Max a loving place to stay until he could find a forever home. We went to get Max to take him to get fixed and get ready for a great foster home, and he was very ill. Max was rushed to the vet and he had been so starved and neglected that his immune system had started to shut down. Max was sent home in hopes that he would be ok, and definately better off with someone being with him all night. Max passed away on 5-29-04. We will never be able to figure out how someone could neglect or not feed an animal, but unfortunately these people did this to Max.

Vince was a beautiful 9 week old Chow mix. Vince loved everyone and everything. Vince was one of the cutiest puppies that I have ever been around. His personality would just shine through those pretty little eyes. Sadly Vince became ill and was rushed to the vet. He was diagnosed and treated for Parvo, he stayed in treatment for 2 days and sadly passed away on 9-14-04. Vince will be missed everyday from all of us. None of us will ever be able to forget those eyes and that innocent look that he always had.

Gino I love you and hope to see you again at the Rainbow Bridge

Gino was a beautiful 12 week old Italian Greyhound. Gino was given to us becase the breeder did not want him to be bred she wanted him to be a loved pet. Sadly Gino has some breathing problems and was rushed into the vet becasue he had blood clotts in his lungs. Because of his size and age Gino  was not strong enough to pull through the treatment.

Gino stole my heart the second I saw him. I will always remember Gino and I will miss him dearly everyday!!! Rest in Peace Gino. I love You!!!

Alba was a beautiful little boy that had been severely abused and neglected, and was terrified of new people and new situations. Alba was a beautiful boy that deserved so much more than he was ever given. Alba is now where no one can ever hurt him, he will have plenty of friends and toys to play with, no more abuse, chaines, and anything else that can hurt him. We love you Alba.

kaylee1.jpg

Kaylee was pulled from Portland Animal Control. She was a wonderful 3 month old ball of joy. Kaylee contracted Distemper and after over a month of treatment and tring everything to save her, Kaylee had to be put to sleep on 4-23-04.  Kaylee was a precious baby, and deserved a long healthy, and happy life. We will miss you Kaylee!!

griffin1.jpg

This poor guy wandered up to a local grocery store and the police were going to shoot him. I just happened to be at the store for the first time in a year and saw this happening. I quickly jumped in front of the officer and told him that we would take the dog. We brought Griffin home and realized that he had obviously never been loved or had a family that cared about him. Although he was absolutely wonderful with children and would rub on them non stop when he could chase them down. We want to thank  Miss Allies Grand Ol Rescue for helping us take Griffin in, and help get him safe. That means alot to us and I am sure it did to Griffin also!! Sadly Griffin tested positive for severe heartworms. He had begun treatment and recieved all of his shots and also developed symptoms of distemper. Between the complications of both poor Griffin passed away at the vet. This poor guy never had a chance to find a forever home. We will miss him and are thankful that he was cared about before he passed away.

Brindle

We all Love you Bren!

Miss Brindle was rescued from a horrible situation in 2002. Brindle quickly let it be known that she was ready for a new beginning and wanted to be part of a family. Brindle spent 1 year in foster care with me and we enjoyed every munite of it. Bren was a ball of fire and had more energy that you could imagine, she loved to play but loved to cuddle more than anything. No other animal I think could have loved her human kids more. Bren was adopted to Sara and Berry in 2004 and continued to live out her new loving life and be a spoiled little girl. Bren slowed down a little but her love for her family and her kids never did. Sadly Miss Brindle passed away on October 18, 2006. Bren will be deeply missed everyday, and will continue to be loved just as much as she was before. Bren showed us all that no matter what you have been through if given a second chance take it. Bren never let anything that happened to her effect her life or temperment. We just wish that everyone could have the same outlook on life that she did.

barkley23.jpg

Barkley was a beautiful little 6 year old boy.  Barkley was a very well loved and important family member. Barkleys presence was enough to keep his family happy and reminded of the love he gave each day. Sadly Barkley became ill and was taken to the vet for emergency treatment for pancreatitis. Barkley sadly needed  put down to stop his pain. Barkley had everyone in his family there to tell him good bye and remind him how much they loved and adored him. Barkley will always be in his loving families hearts and thoughts!!

The Rainbow Bridge
There is an Indian legend which says: "When a human dies there is a bridge they must cross to enter into heaven.

At the head of that bridge waits every animal that human encountered during their lifetime.

The animals, based upon what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge...and which are turned away."
